About Lisa

Hi! I’m Lisa Greaves Taylor, a NYC-based proud mom of 2 and wife of 1 😂. Probably more interesting to you, though: I’m a certified childbirth educator with both Childbirth Education Association of Metropolitan New York (CEA/MNY) and Lamaze International. I served on CEA/MNY’s board for 5 years, and was honored to be named CEA’s Ellen Chuse Childbirth Educator of the Year a few years back. I’m a professional member of Evidence Based Birth, am an Evidence Based Birth Instructor, and am also a Certified Lactation Support Counselor.

In 2021, I became the owner-director of East River Doula Collective (fka Astoria Doula Collective), so I can efficiently connect NYC & western Long Island expectant parents with great labor & postpartum support.

I’ve also been a DONA-certified birth doula since 2010 and have studied with a number of renowned childbirth professionals including midwife Ina May Gaskin, perinatal neuroscience & skin-to-skin/kangaroo mother care expert Dr. Nils Bergman, and Spinning Babies on optimal fetal positioning techniques.

As a result of my two childbirth experiences in 2005 & 2008, I became passionate about encouraging, equipping, and supporting expectant parents through pregnancy, birth, and into parenting. My husband and I are transplanted Texans and have lived in NYC since 1999, also desire to be a resource and encouragement to anyone who wants to start a family and remain living in the city.

I have a B.A. in journalism from Baylor University and have previously worked in the music & entertainment industries, academia (Harvard University), corporate (Credit Suisse) & nonprofit sectors. For a decade, I worked with the nonprofit Hope for New York, which provides volunteer & financial resources to organizations that serve the poor & marginalized NYC folks.

When I’m not teaching, my husband and I loved "city-schooling" our 2 kids through high school, largely by exploring cultural institutions and regularly attending theatrical performances. We also spent much of those years running our kids all over the city on auditions and acting gigs (they’re 3rd generation actors on both sides of the family, so they come by it honestly!)

I adore singing, laughing, blue hydrangeas, 80s music, New England autumn, tap dancing, and devouring York peppermint patties. Oh, and key lime pie. Especially Steve’s Authentic Key Lime Pie from Brooklyn, mmmmmm….

So that’s a little bit about me. I’d be truly honored to work with you to build your confidence and give you the knowledge you need to give birth with confidence! Click below for more info to be on your way to doing just that.
